I have connection or call quality issues joining events!

Hey Lady! Video Technical Guide

I have connection or call quality issues joining events!

Updated 3 days ago

If you're having issue(s) joining events or the call quality is poor, here are some steps we recommend you try to resolve or improve it:

1. Restart your browser before joining a call and avoid opening other browser tabs.

2. Disable browser extensions, like ad blockers as they can block your camera and microphone or interfere with proper network function. Or perhaps try joining from an Incognito or Private window.

3. If you’re running other applications that are also using your internet, temporarily close them while you’re participating in a video call.

4. Check your internet speed with this website (Note: The minimum bandwidth required for effective video conferencing is 10 Mbps for downloading and 4 Mbps for uploading)

5. Reboot/restart your device.

Other things you can try to improve your connection issue or call quality:

  • Refresh your internet browser

  • Quit and reopen your internet browser (do not just close)

  • Please use the most up-to-date version of Google Chrome to participate. You can download and install Google Chrome here.

  • Connect to a stable network, preferably through an ethernet cable, especially if you are using an older device

  • Clear your internet browser’s cookies and cache before trying to log in again (instructions here)

  • Try using an Incognito window, or Private mode

  • Try using another internet browser (we suggest Google Chrome)

  • Try using a different internet connection

  • Try another computer or mobile device

  • Make sure other applications aren't using your camera or microphone. (For example, another video or conferencing product)

  • Close down background apps that might be using the internet or camera, like Dropbox

  • Close down other tabs on your internet browser

  • Move closer to your router if you're using WiFi as walls, furniture, and distance to the router can limit the quality of your connection

  • Restart your router

  • Disable/re-enable WiFi
