What does UTC mean? Do I need to convert the time shown?

Updated 3 days ago

UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time, a standard used to set all time zones around the world (the world is divided into roughly 24 time zones) Think of it like the "centre" of our timekeeping, with all time zones referenced in relation to how far ahead of, or far behind, UTC they are.

For instance, Buenos Aires, Argentina, is in the time zone UTC minus 3 (UTC-3), meaning that it is 3 hours earlier in Buenos Aires than the reading on a UTC clock.

You can check what the time zone in UTC your city is here.

All of the events inside the Hey Lady! platform are shown in your local time zone. We're a global community and are all located in different cities (and therefore, different time zones!) so by using UTC, we can better understand what time someone is in another country relative to us!

When you see an event on our platform you will see that next to the event time there will be UTC time. That UTC plus/minus number is your local time zone and you don't need to do any time conversion, our platform automatically calculates it - we're essentially showing you the event in your local time!

Here's an example:

This means that this event is happening on Monday, November 28th at 4am, Buenos Aires Time (because in Buenos Aires, the time zone is UTC-3)

In the video below, Emma explains a little more about Hey Lady! events and time zones!
