Hey Lady! Events
Updated 3 days ago
There are many different types of events that you can attend inside Hey Lady! - some are hosted by our Coaches, some by our Community Team and others by our members! We've also created this handy guide to help you decide which ones to attend, based on your own personal interests and English goals!
Events hosted by our Coaching Team
Conversation Starter (45 minutes)
Coach-hosted events where you can practise speaking about our current Conversation Topic! Your Coach will welcome everyone, introduce the topic and any important vocabulary and then set up the conversation that you'll have with other members in smaller, breakout rooms (3-4 ladies per room). To prepare for these conversations, study the Lessons, Word List and Vocabulary Workbook related to the current Topic.
Grammar Spot (60 minutes) *Listen Only
These are live grammar lessons hosted by one of our Coaches (focusing on a particular grammar point that’s relevant to our current Conversation Topic). You won’t need your camera or microphone for this event, just come along to watch, learn, ask questions in the chat box, and get some extra practice with your Coach!
Office Hours (60 minutes) *Listen Only
If you have a specific question about our Conversation Topic or feel unsure about any of the lessons our Coaches have provided, come along to 'Office Hours'! Your Coach will be there for a full hour, available to answer any questions you may have about the lessons and help you get some extra vocabulary practice!
Deep Dive Conversations (60 minutes)
Dive deeper into our current Conversation Topic! Teacher-hosted Deep Dive events are created to help you explore the Deep Dive conversations and get guidance on how to host a Deep Dive for yourself! All members are welcome, however preparation is required to join the conversation, whether you’re joining one with a Coach, another member or hosting your own Deep Dive! For each of our fortnightly Conversation Topics, there is a Deep Dive video to watch, where your coaches model a conversation. There are 4 different Deep Dive formats; Share & Compare, Round Table, Solve a Problem and Role-Play. After watching the Coaches' video, you can complete the Deep Dive workbook to prepare for joining an event or hosting your own!
Skills Workshops (60 minutes)
Each month, our Coaches host a ‘Skills Workshop’ to help you learn, practise and improve a *specific* English skill that is relevant to our current Conversation Topic. From learning Active Listening techniques and Persuasive Speaking skills, to honing your Professional Introduction or Presentation Skills for work, these must-join Workshops always focus on essential English skills that are relevant and practical for any woman who wants to communicate with confidence and ease.

Other Community Events hosted by our Team
Daily Speaking Practice (15 minutes)
This *short and sweet* speaking practice event is perfect for busy women who are running short on time! Hosted by the Community Team, we aim to connect you with a speaking partner to have a quick chat about our current Conversation Topic. You don’t need to prepare, but there are separate events for advanced and intermediate levels, so please choose the one that suits your level.
Member Interviews & Conversations Over Coffee (60 minutes) *Listen Only
Our team regularly host interviews with women from our community, to inspire and motivate you, and spark interesting conversations! Sometimes, our Coaches will choose to interview ONE member, and other times, they will invite 2-3 members of our community to discuss a particular topic (we call those events ‘Conversations Over Coffee’!) Whether it’s a one-to-one ‘Member Interview’ reflecting on a member’s English progress and achievements, or a ‘Conversation Over Coffee’ with 2-3 women about a topic they are all experienced in or passionate about, you can consider these events to be a bit like a “live podcast”, hosted by Emma or one of the Hey Lady! Coaches! We love celebrating our members and getting helpful tips and advice from them about English, careers and life. Tip! You don't need to use your camera or microphone at these events (unless you are one of the members part of the discussion). You can just grab a cup of coffee and listen to the discussion, learning from the women in our community. Come along!
New Member Meetups (15 minutes)
This is the first event you will attend! You will be personally welcomed by our Community Success team who will provide helpful tips on how to use our platform and introduce you to other members of the community!
