Can I pause my billing? How do I pause?

If you're going on holiday, moving house, taking care of your family or simply need a short break, you can pause your billing without cancelling your membership.

When you pause your billing:

✅ You can still log in, message friends and receive invitations.
❌ You won't be able to join events or chats.
❌ You won't have access to learning materials or video lessons.

Your membership automatically resumes at the end of your chosen pause, so you don't need to remember to come back and switch it on again.

How long can I pause for?

You can choose one of these pause periods:

  • 2 weeks

  • 3 weeks

  • 4 weeks

  • 5 weeks

  • 6 weeks

At the end of your chosen pause, your membership will automatically become active again.

If you're ready sooner, you can return early at any time by clicking Resume Billing in your account.

Will I lose any membership time?

No.

Any days you've already paid for are safely saved while your billing is paused.

When your membership resumes, those remaining days are added before your next payment is due.

For example:

  • Your next payment is due on 1 July.

  • You pause your billing on 16 June.

  • You still have 15 paid days remaining.

  • You choose to pause for 4 weeks.

Your membership resumes on 14 July, and your next payment won't be due until 29 July.

You never lose any membership time you've already paid for.

Can I pause again straight away?

No.

After your membership resumes, there is a 35-day recharge period before you can pause again.

This helps members get back into the habit of speaking English and prevents memberships from staying paused for long periods

How do I know the date when I can pause again? 

Go to your Payment Setting page and click the “Pause billing” button. You will see the date when you are next able to cancel.

How do I pause my billing?

  1. Click your profile photo.

  2. Open Settings.

  3. Select Payment Details.

  4. Click Pause Billing.

  5. Choose a pause period between 2 and 6 weeks.

We'll remind you before your membership automatically resumes.

What's the difference between Pause Billing and Cancelling?

Pause Billing is for a short break. 

Your account, chats and community connections stay with you, and your billing automatically resumes at the end of your chosen pause.

You can only pause a subscription that has already been paid. If your last payment was unsuccessful, it can not be paused. You can contact our support team if you are unable to pay your fees and want to switch to a different plan to keep your membership. 

Cancelling means you're leaving the community.

Your subscription stays active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account enters a 30-day recovery period. If you don't reactivate during that time, your account history will be permanently deleted and you'll need to start again if you return in the future.


Why can’t I pause my billing? Getting an error.

There are 2 conditions that can prevent pausing: 

  1. You have not paid for your membership. All Hey Lady! members pay their membership fees in advance. Only a subscription that has been paid for can be paused. If your most recent payment failed, you will not be able to pause your billing.
    You can either:

    • Pay the outstanding amount and then pause

    • Contact us to switch plans and pay the amount for that plan, then pause

    • Cancel your subscription to avoid payment.
       

  2. It has been less than 35-days since you last paused. When you resume your subscription after pausing, 35 days must pass before you are eligible to pause again.
    You can either:

    • Wait until the 35 days has passed and then pause again

    • Cancel your subscription to avoid payment


Note: You can check the date when your billing can be paused again by going to Payment Settings, then click “Pause Billing”. The eligible date will be displayed.

If I just cancel, can I re-activate my account later? 

Cancelling means you are no longer a paying member of Hey Lady!. Once your subscription is cancelled, you lose your current pricing.

After cancelling, your account enters a 30-day recovery period. If you don't reactivate during that time, your participation and account history will be permanently deleted and you'll need to start again with a fresh account at the current pricing.
